Round 2(Daegu Tour) & Round 3

  • May. 10th, 2008 at 6:29 AM

On 5th, May. Children's Day.

KB League Round 2, Daegu Tour
(Daegu is the hometown of our team, Yeongnam IIbo.)

So many children visited that event with their parents.

I went to cheer for my teammates! (I wore Yeong Ho's necktie just for fun.)

Round 2, final match. (My team VS my formal team 'World Merdian')

Yeong Ho and Jun Sang won their games. However....

I gave a teaching game to the mayor of Daegu.

Children were exciting, whereas  we were not.
They asked us to sign our autographs.
Unfortunately  everyone in my team was sad, for we lost by 2:3.
I felt terribily sorry for them...

 I cannot forget that momnet.
So I want to help them.
 But .............how?

Round 3.

Yeongnam VS Sinsung.

Ji Seok and Jun Sang went to China to play Chinese B-League.
Therefore, we had to give up one game.
We were desperate.
Though too bad, it's just one of those things.

On the first day  Yoo Tack played,
none of us appeared to cheer, because we had to study hard for our games.
Only our supervisor came and rooted for Yoo Tack.

Before playing, I felt headache and took a rest for a while.
 I was nervous.

I won against the very strong player, Chan Hee.
Though he was way better than me, I managed to win. Thank God...

 Four of us won!
 Phew........I was relieved.

Ji Seok watched our games in China and called Yeong Ho, after I won.
Then he said that Ji Seok and Jun Sang were extremely excited!

We can do it from now on.

Really nice!!! thank you for sharing this!

I want to be Daegu mayor too lol... lucky man :) you must be very good at teaching.

I think you're way too modest ^^ but that's not bad, I suppose it's positive. It most be very fun and hard to play on team, mostly to see your teammates loose (<- that is hard, not fun =S); anyways, loosing is bad but is part of the game.

I always have some aspirins with me when I go to play tournaments, also I always have anti-anxiety pills with me (when I get nervous not just the stones tremble, the whole board does lol). Even if I don't use them I take measures.

You look very nice on the photos!!! I also saw the picture of you when you where 1p, amazing! very young, I didn't even knew about baduk at that time :(. You are amazing! :)

I'm 100% sure you'll try very hard on your next game! I wish for your success.

Thanks so much!!
Hum,,,using such pills sound not good...Someday, you can overcome all the pressures from the nervousness. Hope you will~

If I go back to past, especially at that time I was 1p, would I act a little differently? Would I study Baduk more? I always wonder..

I don't know if you whould act any different but you would probably be stronger ;)... I mean, I've done bad things but I think I would repeat them, mistakes make things more fun like in baduk.

I havent used those pills since october last year I think =P (But aspirins I do haha... my head hurts very often)

Oh, that's a good news! In fact, complete calmness is requested for great Baduk players. I don't have it yet. :(

Well Done!
Sounds like an exciting time :).

I enjoyed your game. Nice sacrifice and a nice ko fight. The opening was quite a rare one, wasn't it? a weird Kobayashi variation.. can you say why is it so uncommon?
I was also wondering how did you prepare for your game. Did you study Chan Hee's games? Did you plan your first moves (assuming you knew you were getting Black)? Did you try to judge what are your advantages against his style? Or maybe you didn't know which opponent you're getting and you just prepared in general, studying new joseki maybe?...

(How is the pairing being made anyway?)

Sorry that I'm asking so many questions ^^;
Anyway, congratulations for the nice result of the 4 wins! - the best you could do with a default loss...

And good luck on the next round!
Will you be playing? It seems you're strong at such fast games. I hope to see you play more...

Thanks for the update.

At first, I want to thank you for your questionaire.
I finally figure it out what you really want to know.
Sooner or later, I will make new posting that will be related to your questions about KB Baduk League.

Just wait for me!

Congratulations
Hi!! Nice report of the rounds!!
I will keep supporting!! Go Go Yeongnam IIbo!!
You wrote about a decrease of Baduk interest in Korea... but in the photo with the children asking for autographs I see hope! Baduk won't pass!!

Lee Se Dol team is next? Let it come.. you can omit the Lee Se Dol factor... there are another 4 boards to play... Great moments and memories are born from great opportunity! And that's what you'll have there.. That's what you've earned!. One match! One chance. Don't give up before the battle start! The problem is not beating Lee Se Dol... the problem is winning on any 3 boards! 4 would be great and 5... in that case invite me to the party! ;)

I am sure you will read Cocori soon... and about your last coment... you don't have to live up to other's expectations.. you must live up to your own expectations! And if you know deep inside you did all you could... then you can rise your head and look in the eyes to anybody who face you. I know nothing will take you down.. you have faith of the heart! (remember??)

Ohhh... one great great new. :D we are very excited here... I am sure you will too. No doubt.. but.. I'll let you know soon. Let me put it this way: I almost wasn't able to hold the tears down when it happened. It's a little magic miracle :D

By the way, one you mentioned that you will come to Korea in September.
You will contact with Diana, right?
She often comes to watch the KB League.
If you follow her, you will meet me!
Then we can talk a bunch of things. ^___^

Good Luck
Ah, your defaulted match was against Park Yeonghun, right?

Lee Sedol's team looks quite tough, they also have Choi Cheolhan. Good luck against them.

They're currently playing Lee Changho's team, right? I'm watching Sedol vs Cho Hunhyun, the game is very exciting.
